What’s this all about?

We believe knowledge is power. When more runners are aware, we have more leverage to create change in systems of inequality.

The current prize money structure* for champions of the Boston Marathon are as follows:

Open Division M/F: $150,000
Wheelchair M/F: $40,000
Other Para Categories M/F:
$2,500
Nonbinary Division:
0

This. Makes. No. Sense.

At the heart of it, this structure sends a clear message that disabled and nonbinary athletes are valued less than those in the male & female categories.

But wheelchair, para, and nonbinary champions put in the exact same 26.2 miles to reach the finish line.
They have the same dedication to their training in preparation to run (or wheel) the race.
They conquer the same hills on race day.
They earn their spot on the podium.

And they deserve equal prize money for winning the Boston Marathon in their respective categories.

Anything less is discriminatory.
Anything less fails to recognize the full humanity of athletes who are either disabled or nonbinary.

Equal money for equal miles.
